Lakewood Golf Club

Lakewood Development Company was formed in the spring of 2005 for the sole purpose of developing Lakewood Golf Community, a master planned residential community with a championship golf club as its centerpiece. Upon assembling over 350 acres of beautiful, rolling Missouri countryside, just 10 minutes outside St. Joseph, a development team was selected to achieve the vision of the developer's.

One of the first members of the team was the golf course consulting and development company of Golf Services Group who began feasibility and business planning in the spring of 2007. Upon successful determination and completion of a business plan for the golf club and residential community a design group was added to the team, headed by Jeffrey Brauer, a world class golf course architect and past president of the Golf Course Architects of America. Finally, Mid-America Golf, an award winning golf course builder was contracted for the construction of the golf course.

Unfortunately, in late summer of 2007 the economic downturn which affected the entire nation also hit home in St. Joseph and the development plans for this exceptional project had to be put on hold only weeks before funding and construction of the golf club and additional infrastructure of the residential community was slated to begin.

With a loosening of the markets being expected in 2010 plans are once again under way to finalize the design and engineering of both the golf club and the residential community. Golf Services Group as development partner with Lakewood Development Company, is planning for construction to begin in 2010, contingent on the financing markets. On the housing side, a new brokerage firm, One Home Realty, has been brought on board to market the first two completed phases of the residential community.

To date, we have completed the surveying, land planning, golf course design and permitting issues for the entire project.We are resuming final engineering and construction drawings for the golf course and are planning to begin excavation of the irrigation lake in late summer of this year, again, with the full construction of the golf course hopefully beginning next year.

Lakewood Golf Club is planned to be an 18-hole, par 72 championship caliber private golf club and will offer the residents of Lakewood Golf Community and the greater St. Joseph market area one of the finest golf facilities in the Midwest.
